Archbishop Antony Kariyil of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archeparchy has issued a pastoral letter calling for "radical synodal listening" ahead of the archeparchy's plenary assembly scheduled for next month.

The letter, circulated to all 462 parishes, explicitly addresses the ongoing liturgical dispute — in which a significant portion of the faithful in the archeparchy have refused to adopt the unified rite mandated by the Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church — and invites all parties to participate in structured dialogue.

"The Holy Spirit does not speak through factions but through the whole people of God gathered in charity," Archbishop Kariyil wrote. "I invite every priest, every religious, and every layperson — especially those who feel estranged — to come to this assembly."

The plenary assembly will be held over three days and will include sessions on liturgical theology, parish governance, and the Church's social mission in Kerala.
